The Legal Alien and the Five Woodland Critters

Many believe that living the American Dream is coming to the USA and making something of one’s life…
I have a different opinion- Living in America is a little bit like living in a Fairytale…

Let me explain.

This has absolutely nothing to do with people… And everything to do with nature.

In South Africa, monkeys roam around and “pay visits” to one’s house- sometimes sneaking in an open window and stealing food- and often, if you try to scare them off– they end up pooping on the kitchen counters.

Now compare that “wonderful” image with what one gets to experience here in the USA.

At home, we often walk out in the mornings to see bunnies scattering in every direction. We actually have two living in our backyard.
Squirrels will often “visit” too…running up and down our trees.
At night, fire-flies light up our front-yard- they’re beautiful!!
And then… At the house where I work- a deer sighting is not a rare occurrence! Just yesterday we watched as a family of four deer ate wild apples off a tree in the backyard- two of the four were tiny baby deer!!
Another regular visitor at the residence where I work is a little red fox- although I haven’t seen him this summer.

Sometimes I feel like breaking into song like a Disney princess… And can imagine all the little “woodland” critters gathering around to enjoy my…. Okay- let’s be real, the “woodland” creatures would run for their lives if I started singing… But you get the idea…

The domestic wildlife in this area is awesome!! And I still appreciate it with child-like enthusiasm and awe!! ๐Ÿ™‚

its so cool the glimpses of heaven we get on earth.

    • Absolutely!! ๐Ÿ™‚ ~~Heaven on earth!

We don’t really live in the “rural” area… more the suburbs… but yes – definitely not in the city! ๐Ÿ™‚ The city is about 10 minutes away.

Thanks for the like and the love! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Lovely post hon, had tears in my eyes (serious), but don’t you remember the meercats that used to come and investigate the dustbin? till Sam chased them away. The little bokkies that would go into Lisa’s yard from the dump? Actually saw one in the bush next to Kingsway a while back and n&g often have them grazing right next to the fence in their back yard, not to mention (for the reptile lovers) the blue headed lizards in our trees (that Lilo sits and watches all day, every day). So, not only monkeys hon, don’t sell SA short. Also read recently in the local paper that 15 years ago there were still the occasional leopards in the vicinity. And don’t forget the Dolphins!!! Can’t wait to see you guys! 1 week to go, whoopee!!
